Location Guide

You’ve booked a session with me, now choose your location!

This guide will help you select from a few of my favorite go-to spots in the Central Kentucky Area. Don’t feel limited to these choices though! Do you have special access to a country club? Does your family have private land you think is just beautiful? Have you been inspired by something you’ve seen online and you want to do something similar? All are viable options! This guide is simply here to help your choice be simple. don’t hesitate to reach out and tell me your vision. I’ll help come up with something great!

Join me at my studio space in the heart of Lexington KY! The perfect place for all types of sessions, especially maternity, newborns, headshots, and childhood portraiture including smash cakes!

Keenland | perfect for fall colors and spring blooms

Keenland has horse farm fencing, brick walkways, stacked stones, historical buildings, and stunning colors in the fall. A perfect place for your kiddos to play in the leaves, or a romantic place for you and your partner to take a stroll.

Hisle Farm Park | Endless possibilities all year long!

(Kaitlyn’s Favorite Location!)

Hisle Farm Park is one of my favorite locations in Lexington because it has a little bit of everything. Tall grass, Mature trees I can easily hang swings from, wide open spaces, hidden ponds, an old barn, a white gravel driveway, Tree Stumps, Horse fencing, Spring and summer wild flowers, and fall colors (more subtle fall colors than locations in town). Scroll through these images to see a few of the possibilities there. It’s even a great choice for snowy days!

Shakertown | Harrodsburg KY | Year round

Shaker Village is a unique location in Harrodsburg with a beautiful overlook, rolling hills, gravel paths, old historic buildings, barns, horse fencing, tall grasses, and even a shallow creek to climb in. Keep in mind that this location does charge both you, AND me to enter the premises (this began in 2020). It’s only $10 for you, but $25 for me, and that extra $25 will be invoiced to you if this is the location you choose.

Jacobson Park | Lexington KY | Year round

Jacobson Park in Lexington is a great choice for several reasons. There is a pretty wooded area that stays green even in the winter months with a thick ivy. There is a bridge, fallen logs, and a cult favorite, the pine needle forest with the wide tree paths. There is also a big lake, which has gorgeous sunsets and a big hilly area for epic Skys.

The Arboretum State Botanical Gardens | Lexington KY | Spring & Summer

The arboretum provides beautiful floral and architecture elements that allow many possibilities for portraiture. Ideal in the spring and summer.

Lavender Fields | Georgetown KY | Late May - Early July

A unique setting for portraiture, right here in Central KY. The blooms are only at full color for a few weeks though.

Sunflower fields | Lexington, Georgetown and Paris KY | July - September depending on the farm

The brightest and happiest sessions imaginable! Various farms around the area have different bloom periods. The blooms only look good for about two weeks. If this is what you have your heart set on I need to know so I can add you to my wait list ASAP.

Christmas tree farm | Lexington KY | September - November

The Christmas Tree farm only allows photographers on certain days/times and there is a fee to shoot there that will be worked into the cost of the session. I will sometimes do these as Mini sessions, but if you want a longer session to fully explore the farm’s various locations we can schedule it as well.

Lexington Cemetery | Lexington KY | Late March - mid april

The cemetery might seem like a strange place for family photos, but the historic Lexington cemetery is home to some of the most gorgeous spring booms and blossoms around! This is where the famous Cherry Blossom Tunnel and Tulip Field are. Cherry Blossoms bloom in late march, tulips in April.
